How painful is piercing?
Pain levels can vary depending on individual pain tolerance and the location of the piercing. Generally, getting a piercing involves some discomfort or pain, but it’s usually brief and manageable for most people.
What should I expect?
Intial bleeding and swelling are normal. The intial piercing jewelry is intended to account for swelling. Head in if your jewelry feels too tight.
What should I do to take care of my new piercing?
Follow the aftercare instructions provided by your piercer. Clean the piercing regularly with saline solution and avoid touching it with dirty hands. Avoid swimming in pools or bodies of water until the piercing is fully healed to prevent infection.
When I can take out or change my jewelry?
When your piercing is healed. Changing it too soon can disrupt the healing process and increase the risk of infection or irritation. If, during healing, the length of jewelry is bothering you, visit your piercer to see if downsizing is an option for you.
How long will it take for my piercing to heal?
All piercing placement and bodies are different. Your piercer can give you an estimate of healing time, but remember to be patient. Piercings heal from the outside in, so even if it looks healed, it might not be.
Here are some approximate healing times for common piercing
Earlobe: 3 to 4 months
Ear cartilage (helix, tragus, etc.): 9 months to 1 year
